About Open Stages

Open Stages is a project on the way, rooted in the encounter between Scènes d’enfance – Assitej France, Assitej Epaña, Assitej Italia and in the will to compare and share about the themes of migration and inclusion in the context of performing arts for young audiences . This common interest moves from being all three Assitej national centers of States overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, sadly crucial in migratory routes to the European Union, as well as the history of each country.

This is how TYA and migration project born: it was presented in September 2019 on the occasion of the Artistic Gathering of Assitej International held in Kristiansand (Norway). In its frame Migrants blossomed and it’s growing up.

Open Stages intends to present a thematic cross-section of the numerous artistic projects and reflections at the beginning produced in the three promoters countries and then open up to the experiences of other nations.

Open Stages is a dynamic collection, always in progress, of shows, projects, articles and experiences dedicated to migration and immigration, also declined in themes such as comparison with the Other, listening, reception. These are related but essential themes, in particular in the dialogue with young people, children and early children, thanks to their allusive attitude that allows the range of artistic expression to open up further, as it is also evident in PalchiAPerti/OpenStages Manifesto.

Openstages webpage has been presented at the Assitej International World Congress 2021, alongside the experiences of France, Spain and Italy. Openstages will welcome the experiences by all the other national centers Assitej in the world those intend to join the project. Inevitably, their joining will allow also to extending the same idea of migration/immigration, as well as his translation to the TYA.
